Tzfat Kabbalah Center

Anyone of all religions are welcome to drop by who wants to learn Kabbalah. Kabbalah played a historical and central role in the city of mysticism. Visitors who are seeking an opportunity to experience, study, and research the magic of Jewish mysticism are welcome to join on-the-spot meditation and hour-long personalized workshops with Eyal Riess who lectures on Tzfat Kabbalah tradition around the world.

Ceramic Workshops

 

Batya Erdstein immigrated to Safed, Israel from from San Diego California and founded "The Safed Pottery Experience" Workshop and pottery studio. She learned how learned how make pottery from Tzfat potter Daniel Flatauer, but adopted her own style and techniques in designing her own unique methods of making pottery. 

Batya Erdstein offers workshops called "The Safed Pottery Experience" for individuals, families, and groups for either for a once in a lifetime experience or for a number of ceramics classes. Participants will enjoy a magical clay experience of how to create and design their own pottery and learn about how Jewish and Kabbalistic concepts are associated with the art of creating pottery.

Visitors to the studio can browse Batya's Judaica ceramic collection that includes Judaica mezuzah covers, shabbat candlestick holders, menorahs, seder plates, and havdallah holders that are available for purchase. Batya's pottery studio is located in the heart of the Artist Quarter on Alorzoroff Street, just below the Judith Gallery near Keren HaYesod Street.

Stam Center of Safed (Otzar HaStam of Safed) - Letters of Adventure

The Otzar HaStam visitors center was founded in 2010 and introduces visitors of how a skilled Sofer Stam inscribes Hebrew letters on sacred Hebrew parchments that are used inside of mezuzah, tefillin, and torah scrolls. At the Stam Center there is an interactive presentation Scribe's workshop were participants can learn about the process of mezuzot, tefillin, and torah scrolls are created and how Kabbalistic concepts of the Hebrew letters and laws and customs are associated to the writing of the holy texts. 

Participants will have the opportunity of inscribing text on a 3D practice quill, parchment and ink. The center also has a gift shop where visitors can purchase items such as, tefillin and mezuzza scrolls. The center is located outside the Old City of Tzfat on Gdud HaSlishi Street in the upper Canaan neighborhood of Safed.

Canaan Gallery

Orna and Yair Mor founded the Canaan Gallery in 1992. They adopted the name from Mt. Canaan, the mountain that over looks the Old City of Tzfat. The gallery still follows Tzfat’s centuries-old textile tradition that was first started by Jews fleeing the Spanish Inquisition.  Visitors who visit the Canaan gallery can arrange a workshop that include concept products, tying tzitzit, and the weaving experience to learn about the weaving process and see how fabrics are woven by hand.
